It was 9.45 pm on the first night of freshers’ week. The occasion demanded a fresh supply of vodka, merriment and general hilare-ness. Among the sounds of Dubstep and clinking glasses, a small voice pipes up: “Does anyone have a bottle opener?” You’d expect someone to have one. Just someone. Alas, it’s usually something that’s left at home. Thus, the cross-campus challenge to obtain a bottle opener commences…
If you’re anything like me then you’ll have mentally noted down things you should have packed before going to university. A bottle opener was one. Here are some less common things you should pack in your suitcase before departing to university…
1) A piece of paper/notepad/something to write on
Write down where everything is stored as you pack. You’ll thank yourself later. Don’t be one of those students who realise they left their shampoo in the side compartment of their suitcase after going out to buy some.
2) Birthday cards
Saves the trek to Tesco the night before your flat mate’s 19th birthday. Bring cards in bulk and never again face the birthday card dash.
3) Flip flops
Avoid slipping and risking injury in the shower with flip flops on your feet. Also useful for shared bathroom situations. Don’t get me wrong! My shared bathroom is great but others may be less hygienic.
With a Dropbox account, there’s no need for a pen-drive or the hassle of uploading documents to your email account. You’re able to access your files from any computer and save to Dropbox with little fuss.
What do you think?

Great advice, I have a bottle opener on my key ring courtesy of the people I rent my house from. Love student freebies!
